Superfine Yarn Co. is an extension of the love that I have for my family and the creativity that they passed on to me.
My mom is the main reason that I am artistic. While I was growing up, she worked as an art coordinator at a small museum and I spent time taking creative classes there. At a young age, I was exposed to countless makers and artistic realms. However, it was through an indigo dyeing workshop that I discovered my love for fiber arts.
I eventually picked up cross stitching and began playing around with sewing, quilting, and embellishing squares with beads and embroidery. After college, my aunt taught me how to knit and we bonded by going to knitting shows. She was patient as I learned the art, fixing my mistakes along the way.
I was instantly smitten with the art of knitting, eventually turning my favorite hobby into a full-time business.
Hooked on my ability to create a variety of custom yarn colors in my home, I became eager to expand my space and my offerings. So, in August 2018, Superfine Yarn Co. moved into its first studio space. Now, each hand-dyed skein is created with love in our Hildebrandt Building Studio, a former meat packing factory turned creative hub for artists and makers, located in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood.
When you open your package of beautiful hand-dyed yarn from Superfine Yarn Co., I hope to spark the same intense creativity that my family ignited in me years ago. I want you to find enjoyment in the unique hues and delight in the individual specks of color that pop while you are knitting a row.
I have put all the love that I have for creation and knitting into Superfine Yarn Co. and am grateful for the opportunity to pass on the beauty of hand-dyed yarn to you and your family for generations to come.
Yours,
Sarah Flinn
